As the ice comes off more Minnesota lakes, safety officials are highlighting Saturday's start to National Safe Boating Week.
    
The St. Paul District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the best thing a person can do to stay safe on the water is to wear a life vest or personal flotation device.
    

Health Officials: Hepatitis C Test Needed for MN Baby Boomers

Attention baby boomers - have you been tested for hepatitis C lately?

The Minnesota Department of Health is reminding people born from 1945 through 1965 to be tested for hepatitis C. The reminder comes for national hepatitis awareness month.

Currently, about 39,000 people statewide are living with the virus.

Hennepin Co. Voting to Align Benefits With Freedom to Marry Bill

The Hennepin County Board of commissioners will vote to direct staff to align its policies, procedures, and employee benefit coverage to match the Freedom to Marry Bill on Tuesday.

On August 1, Hennepin County staff will be prepared to both process marriage applications for LGBT couples and extend benefit coverage to any married county employee.

The fifth annual Shakopee’s Derby Day pet fair will held July 31 at Huber Park.

The fair is free and includes activities for pets and a variety of organizations and businesses. The event is hosted by Shakopee Community Education and Shakopee Parks and Recreation.

Police Investigate Car Burglaries at Day Cares, Fitness Club in Savage

Police in Savage are investigating car thefts at day cares and fitness clubs.

Two men are suspected of stealing purses, briefcases and wallets from vehicles at the parking lots of day cares and fitness clubs. The suspects also broke into a vehicle in Burnsville, and then used stolen credit cards at Super Target and Office Depot in Savage.
