Dayton Proclaims Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Week

Gov. Mark Dayton has proclaimed this week Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Week in Minnesota.
    
The designation is part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness of the destructive nature of the tree pests, and to spread the word about the "three P's of EAB" - Prepare, Protect, and Plant.

Richfield Artist Wins 2013 Pheasant Stamp Contest

A Richfield artist was named the winner in the DNR's 2013 Pheasant Stamp Contest. Timothy Turenne's painitng was selected from among 14 entries in this year's contest.

Ed Durose of Roseville took second place. Mark Thone of Shakopee finished third.

Turenne finished third in the 2011 pheasant stamp competition.

Prior Lake Compost Site Open Every Saturday in October

As the leaves start falling and you start raking, a reminder that the City of Prior Lake's compost site will be open every Saturday in October. It will also be open November 10.

Residents of both Prior Lake and Savage can drop off leaves, grass clippings, brush, sod and small branches less than 8 inches in diameter for free between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on those dates.

Ramsey County Waste Collection Truck Travels to St. Paul

The Ramsey County waste collection truck is moving to St. Paul this month.

Residents can drop off household hazardous waste for free in St. Paul throughout the month of August. Items collected include paint, used motor oil, batteries, fluorescent lights, and other products that shouldn’t go in the normal trash.
