Former Shakopee Teacher's Aide Sentenced in Criminal Sexual Conduct Case | News

A former Shakopee teacher's aide was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days in jail and 15 years of probation for having sexual relations with a 16-year-old male student.

The Dakota County Attorney's Office says 27-year-old Michelle Chlan was sentenced after her guilty plea was accepted in Dakota County Court Tuesday. She pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Chlan met the student through her employment as a paraprofessional in a Shakopee school. The encounters took place from June 2009 to July 2010 in Burnsville, the county attorney's office says.

Chlan will also have to register as a predatory offender and pay restitution. If she violates any conditions of release, she'll face three years in prison.
